About

The "Dead-Drop" Project

After discovering the emerging genre of Dubstep, I felt I finally found the electronic music for me, having listened to just metal for my teen years.
Upon learning people were making this new style of music in their bedrooms by themselves, I was intrigued and wanted to have a go. This intrigue soon turned into an obsession, as I felt an ever growing desire to see how good I could become.
Having been a pretty unremarkable kid, I wanted to prove to myself and others, I could be talented.
It was then my alias "Dead-Drop" was born, in May 2011.

I took the name from my favourite game at the time "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion", where I first learned of what a dead drop was. A secret cache used for sharing info and items between parties. I chose this name simply because I thought it was cool and I couldn't find anyone or anything else using it.
I've since found it amusing when people thought the name referred to a "bass drop", in reference to the dubstep music I made. Then later, people thinking it was linked to the exploration/ rooftopping I did, from the apparent risk involved.

I spent ten years teaching myself all I could, never having taken any lessons and not knowing how to play any instruments. I began with using samples to learn how to arrange a song and eventually progressed to being able to write my own melodies and design my own sounds.
After a decade of making music, I felt my instrumentals were pretty good and it was now time to level up my abilities. It's at this point I started adding my own vocals into my music. They sounded horrific and I had a long way to go, but I knew this was the right step to take. Teaching myself how to rap, scream and sing.

Now 14 years in, I still feel there's a lot for me to learn and way more room for me to improve. But my  goal remains the same, see how good I can get.

The "Deadrai" Project

The "Deadrai" alias came to life on the 4th of August 2024.
Using a voice changer powered by Ai, I turned my vocals into those of a woman, giving me a whole new creative outlet.

I used Ai to generate the appearance of Deadrai and now could start developing the character though new lyrics and styles of music I couldn't attempt before. I found new excitement and motivation, with so many possibilities and things to learn. I was able to duet with myself and had the ability to explore new ideas.

The project has quickly developed as I improved my vocal range and figured out how to use the voice changing tools better.
I'm looking forward to seeing what I create and how far Deadrai can go.
