Sending Email
If you use the facility to send an email directly from Dead Drop to your intended note recipient, the email address you enter is sent to the Dead Drop server. It is used only to dispatch the email, and is discarded as soon as the email has been sent.
Dead Drop uses a third party cloud-based email transport service called MailGun to send emails. Emails are not retained on MailGun, we use it only to keep an eye on the number of emails being sent.
We use a cloud provider rather than running our own mail server because it's very time-consuming maintaining a mail server that the internet trusts. MailGun can do this for us.
